Photocatalytically active thin TiO_2 films were produced by spin-coating or dip-coating an alkoxy precursor onto a transparent conducting electrode substrate and by thermal oxidation of titanium metal. The thin films were used to study the photoelectrocatalytic or photoelectrochemical degradation of oxalic acid and 4-chlorophenol (4-CP) under near UV (monochromatic, 365 nm) light irradiation. Degradation was monitored by a variety of methods. In the course of oxalic acid degradation, CO_2 formation accounted for up to 100% of the total organic carbon degradation for medium starting concentrations; for the degradation of 4-CP, less CO_2 was detected due to the higher number of oxidation steps, i.e. intermediates. Incident-photon-to-current conversion efficiency, educt degradation and product formation as well as Faradaic efficiencies were calculated for the degradation experiments. Quantum yields and Faradaic efficiencies were found to be strongly dependent on concentration, with maximum values (quantum yield) around 1 for the highest concentrations of oxalic acid.

The effect of pediocin PD-1, plantaricin 423, and nisin was tested against established biofilms formed by a commercial starter culture of Oenococcus oeni on stainless steel slides and planktonic (free-living) cells. The percentage viable and nonviable cells were determined by using a viability probe and an epi- Fluorescence microscope with image analysis. Pediocin PD-1 (3000 AU/mL) removed all cells in a biofilm of O.oeni that formed in acidic grape medium after five hours. Plantaricin 423 (3000 AU/mL) and nisin (3000 AU/mL) killed all viable cells in the biofilm.

Die Alceru-Stapelfaser ordnet sich mit ihrem Werteniveau gut in das für Lyocelltasern ubliche Qualitätsniveau ein. Aus der Vielzahl der das Verarbeitungsverhalten und Produktqualität bestimmenden Parameter wurde die Avivage für entsprechende Prinzipuntersuchungen auf Einflussnahmemöglichkeiten des Faserherstellers ausgewählt. Ziel war zunächst das Auffinden optimaler Avivagen für die Verarbeitung von Alceru-Fasern zu Ring- oder Rotorgarn. Die bisher vorliegenden Erfahrungen bei einer Verarbeitung unter praxisüblichen Bedingungen bestätigen die in der Vorselektion erarbeitenden Ergebnisse. Außerdem wird in einer ersten Übersicht gezeigt, welche weiterführenden Untersuchungen im Hinblick auf die Erfüllung bestimmter Anforderungen (z.B. Ökotex-Forderungen an Textilien) und bei einer Ausweitung der Einsatzgebiete begonnen wurden.
